Radar technology Axis D2050-E

If you want to keep false alarms to a minimum, radar detection is the solution.

The strongest security solutions take advantage of a strategic mix of technologies to achieve the best results. Every tool in the toolbox has a role to play, and radar’s is an important one:
Radar keeps false alarms to a minimum. And it provides crucial information about detected objects that video cameras can’t – such as their exact position, and the speed and direction of their movement.
Radar uses electromagnetic waves to detect movement. Because radar is not sensitive to the things that normally trigger false alarms. Like moving shadows or light beams, small animals, raindrops or insects, wind, and bad weather. Radar is accurate 24-hours a day. So false alarms are less likely to distract your staff from real threats – and cost you money.
A motion detector based on radar is the perfect complement to your Axis video surveillance system. In addition to triggering an alarm when it detects an intruder, it can also trigger recording for visual verification.
And they’re quick and easy to integrate with Axis Camera Station, Axis Camera Management and partner video management systems.Axis D2050-E

4K Ultra HD/HD/megapixel technology enables network cameras to provide higher resolution of video images than analog CCTV, i.e. the ability to see more details or have a wider coverage – a key consideration in video surveillance applications. With an HDTV or megapixel network camera, the resolution is at least three times better than an analog CCTV camera. 4K Ultra HD offers four times the resolution of HDTV 1080p.

High detail

These are the demanding situations where you need to be able to identify persons or objects in a scene. This could be point-of-sales monitoring where it is necessary to clearly see every item a customer is purchasing, or situations where you need to be able to identify a face. High detail images can be achieved by installing a network camera with a telescopic lens or a lens with zoom capability to enable a closer view of the area of interest, or by placing the camera close to the area to be monitored. Using a HD or megapixel network camera in all such cases will provide even higher resolution images with more details than a non-megapixel network camera.
When using a standard HDTV monitor 4K Ultra HD makes it possible to enhance any portion of the screen without losing details. To manage bandwidth consumption, users can view the live video stream in HD 1080p and take advantage of 4K recordings for forensic purposes.

Pixels per foot – best practices

A conventional CCTV camera providing 4CIF resolution offers a resolution of 704x480 pixels (NTSC) or 704x576 pixels (PAL) after the signal has been digitized in a DVR or a video server, which corresponds to a maximum of 400,000 pixels.
In the surveillance industry, some best practices have emerged regarding the number of pixels required for certain applications. For an overview image, it is generally considered that 20 to 30 pixels are enough to represent one foot of a scene.
For applications that require detailed images, such as face identification, the demands can rise to as much as 75 pixels per foot in good conditions, or even 150 pixels per foot in challenging conditions. See also the standard EN 50132-7:2012 by CENELEC www.cenelec.eu. This means, for example, that you want to be able to strongly identify people passing through an area that is seven feet wide and seven feet high, the camera needs to provide a resolution of 1,050x1,050 pixels, which is slightly more than 1 megapixel.
To assess which network cameras you need (megapixel, HD and/or non-megapixel, including pan/tilt/zoom cameras) it is important not only to do the calculations as outlined, but also to survey the location to determine the number of interest areas, the size of these areas and whether they are located close to each other or spread far apart. Other considerations should also be taken into account; for example the availability of guards performing live monitoring, the need for light sensitivity, bandwidth and storage.

Security Levels

The Primus system features five different levels of security. Security increases from Level One through Level Four providing different restrictions for key acquisition. Each level requires an appropriate I.D. card and/or signature verification for key duplication. All levels utilize Primus cylinders and keys which are patent protected against unauthorized duplication. To select the proper level of security, consideration should be given to the overall key control, convenience, and service required for the installation.

How secure are your locks? How Secure Are Your Locks?
We have received many inquiries regarding master keying. The most frequently asked question has been “Are key blanks easily obtained or can they be fashioned from existing keys?” Some claims have been made that a criminal only needs a hand file and some blanks to create a “master” key.  Statements like this unfairly simplify the art of key making and bring into public question the security in all types of locking systems.  The best mechanical solution to increase the security of master key systems is to replace existing standard cylinders with high-security types. High-security keys usually require intricate side cuts; dimple cuts, angel cuts or other secondary operations, which are not readily made or impossible to make with a hand file.
At A-1, we maintain and sell systems such as Medeco, Primus and ASSA.  The Primus system is ideal because of the number of unique keyways available, (over 4000 keyways).  A traditional high security keyway is limited to 7-10 keyways total.  It is virtually impossible to make a master key if you cannot get a key blank for a specific end user facility.  What makes A-1 keying system unique to the industry?? Years ago, we incorporated a safety mechanism for protection against any defect of the internal keying system.  The technique we teach is as follows: pinning with primus.
If you are interested in our technique to insure this never happens, or want A-1 Corporate Hardware to do an on site visit and evaluation of your existing key schedule, please call 1-800-368-2348 and schedule a walk through.
Can You Locks Be Bumped?
Bumping locks is an underestimated lock-opening technique by which a large variety of mechanical locks can be opened quickly and without damage by a relatively untrained attacker.  Bumping has been the latest security issue recently featured in the New York Times, Newsweek and MSNBC and is the hottest security topic in the industry today.
This quick un-detectable method along with traditional picking methods is a major concern to everyone in the security industry. Nearly 90% of all locks can be bumped. The exception to this rule is locks that do not allow for two pins to separate or locks that contain a one-piece locking mechanism (sidebar). Examples of “un-bumpable” brands are Schlage Primus and Abloy Protec. Electronic locks and electro-mechanical opening mechanisms would also be un-”bumpable.”
